OnkyMote App Reviews
NET mode bug
When I choose "Input mode: NET" from the list it does not turn on. Please fix it. Onkyo TX-NR626, OS X El Capitan 10.11.4
I bought this application to work with my NR626. It has worked once, but now the app can connect to the Onkyo without being to change the volume. Please avoid to buy this app !!!
does not work with maverick / onkyo 818

onkymote
This app needs a lot of work. I have the O remote on my phone and got this one thinking it would be something like it.
Works but could use more features
Changing volume and input is great, but Id love to have just a little bit more, like a "next song" button for pandora.
Conflict with Mac firewall. Be prepared to turn it off in order to connect. Also almost no online support. Just a place where you can send an email for questions. Also the volume slide is glitchy.
Didnt launch
Downloaded the app and then it wouldnt launch.
Does not launch.
The app does not load on either of our Macs. Hopefully this is fixed ASAP, especially since this app is $2.99.
The program works great if you are sitting on your computer working or on the couch and want to quickly change the input, the volume, or switch the reciever off. Id love to see some more changable settings from the app to come in later versions, but for now it is a great little program!
The current version on the app store does not allow control of volume/input mode or power status of device (2013 model). Developer is non-responsive to request for assistance. I’d steer clear of this application until updated. Website documentation is lacking.
I need it to do zones. The whole point is not to have to walk back to the receiver when I am in a place. Many of those places are far away from the receiver. How can I hope to listen to music in those places? Well, they are defined as zones and there are speakers there. That is the main use of a remote control - to access something remotely - and this app doesn’t do it. In fact, it has a built in link to a FAQ where it tells you that if you want to switch zones, get an iPhone and then get an iOS app that does that.
Opening OnkyMote actually enables a Menu Bar item; no icon appears in the Dock nor do windows open like full-blown “apps.” Perhaps some users became distressed when nothing seemed to happen upon launching it. OnkyMote does what it claims, offering simple input selection and volume control. Power on/off sometimes goes stupid and you may on occasion need to quit/reopen to reestablish communication with your receiver. While I would welcome added functions in light of the price tag, this is nonetheless a handy item to have with your integrated living room or whatever configuration brought you here.
I have a TX-NR636 and the app immediately detected and allowed me to control my receiver within seconds of launching. Everything works and works well, no issues so far!
I was also initially momentarily confused as to where to see the app functions until I looked at the top of my screen and saw the receiver icon. Does exactly what I was looking for, a quick primary function control without having to look for my Onkyo remote or open an iOS app. Thanks!
The app does what it advertises, but it would benefit from a few more features. Here is what it does not do: - Does not allow tuning of radio - No zone control
